presentation

At the invitation of the Ar(t]chipel festival, Vincent Peraro has installed four works in the grounds of the château, weaving a sensitive dialogue between the architecture of the monument and the landscape.

Partita is presented as a space traversed by flows - winds, lights, reflections - "like the air in the sky and the sea in the sea" (Baudelaire, Les Phares). It is a space in movement, fluid and changing, akin to a translucent skin: both the envelope and the body of the work. The interior, structured in volumes and levels, is divided into zones that do not allow people to pass through, but encourage exchanges of air, light, colour and vibrations.

Between flight and expansion, ebb and flow, Partita plays on these dualities to offer an experience of perception in perpetual transformation. Its title, borrowed from a musical form in the suite, underlines the link between formal rigour and freedom of interpretation.

Positioned slightly out of step with the geometry of the building, the work takes its place in the park as a discreet but ever-vibrant presence, open to variations in light and the passage of visitors.

La Litre, the artist's second work on display, evokes the fleeting nature of presence. Its name recalls the medieval tradition of painting a black band on religious buildings to signal the disappearance of a body.

Here, the sculpture first appears as a hole in the landscape: an obscure depth due to the use of basalt felt that reinforces the resin and absorbs the eye. However, the intervention of the sun is enough to transform this black mass into incandescent surfaces, bursts of fire that overturn any first impression. Situated to the west of the park, the piece waits for the sun to set or for a ray of light to strike, revealing itself in a poetic measure of time.

Nearby, three shells in the colour of 'rose de Tyr', obtained from the pigments of marine molluscs, rest on the water mirror, adding to the play of reflections and correspondences.

Finally, in the chapel, a number of pieces of wood resonate with the arches and vaults of the building, like an interior score responding to the works outside.

These works never reveal themselves in a single glance: they are constructed in constant dialogue with the place that welcomes them, with the landscape, with the light. Between interior and exterior, opacity and transparency, perception and sensation, Vincent Peraro composes sensitive spaces whose perception depends on the point of view, the moment and the attention paid.

Vincent Peraro was born in France in 1963. He is a graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, sculpture section, and was awarded the Prix Bourdelle in 2000.

the Ar(t]chipel festival

For the 3rd year running, the AR(t]CHIPEL festival will be showcasing contemporary art in the Centre-Val de Loire region.

The brainchild of a unique partnership between the Centre Pompidou and the Centre-Val de Loire Region, this original festival invites you to discover today's art in a different way: by pushing open the doors of artists' studios, visiting exhibitions, or admiring works from the Centre Pompidou installed near you, in the heart of towns and countryside.

AR(t]CHIPEL is also a rare opportunity to discover private collections or creative spaces that are usually closed to the public, such as artists' residences.

The rich and surprising programme takes us back to the history of the region, between the Renaissance and modern times. Ever since Leonardo da Vinci, the spirit of creation has blown across the banks of the Loire, through the forests of Berry and at the foot of the cathedrals, and continues to inspire today's artists.

Whether you're an art lover or simply curious, with family or friends, let AR(t]CHIPEL surprise you with a festival like no other!

The festival is curated by Anne-Laure Chamboissier.
